Angels & Demons

It happens twice a year,
every year.
New York, London, Milan and Paris.
As I sit at home and gawk at the endless posts of all the lucky bloggers who get to attend the most amazing shows,
all I can do is wish and pray that one day I could do the same.

Fashion Week in San Diego gets bigger and bigger each year,
which is awesome.
Unfortunately I didn't get to attend any of the events this year because we were out of town. Again.
Boo hoo.

But I did get to come home to a little piece of luxury yesterday..
I'm fortunate enough to have some pretty stylish relatives,
and although I only get to see them about once year (majority of my family still lives in Russia),
they do spoil me rotten each time they come to visit.

A few years back I was gifted my favorite Alexander McQueen skull scarf,
which I've been wearing religiously since.
Not without notice either -
this year they decided to add a softer variation to my collection.
So now I have two versions of the same scarf:
skulls for when I'm feeling badass, and angel wings for when I'm feeling feminine.

Speaking of Alexander McQueen...
How amazing was Sarah Burton's beehive collection this season?
I. Want. It. All.

Have you been following the shows for the past month?
Which collection was your favorite?

Weekend Diary

Hi there..
it's a gloomy Monday here in America's Finest City,
and I'm dreading the thought of going to class tonight.

I haven't posted a weekend diary for a while,
so I figured I'd share what I've been up to lately:

..joining some friends and family for sing-along time at The Shout House piano bar..
..indulging in LOTS of wine at Bacchus Wine Bar..
..taking in some art with Pacific SD Magazine at the historic La Valencia hotel..
..previewing some fashion with San Diego Magazine at the Hard Rock Hotel..
I was wearing Foreign Exchange top and blazer, f21 skirt, Steve Madden pumps and vintage Louis Vuitton bag.

Phew..
I guess I've been busy!
No wonder I'm so tired.

What did you do this weekend?

Shit Karl Says

Via
By this point we've probably all seen the endless "shit ______ girls say" videos,
and although they're as hilarious as can be,
they're getting a little old.
No?

Enter Karl Lagerfeld.
A man who rarely uses a filter when talking to the press.
Just last week,
the fashion legend spoke to Paris' Metro Paper about the most random topics,
and nothing was off limits -
not Adele, not even Obama.

Below are a few excerpts from his interview..
How amazing would it be to make a video with all these quotes?!
I die.

On Lana Del Rey, Adele and Florence Welch:
I prefer Adele and Florence Welch. But as a modern singer she is not bad. The thing at the moment is Adele . She is a little too fat, but she has a beautiful face and a divine voice. Lana del Rey is not bad at all She looks very much like a modern-time singer. In her photos she is beautiful. Is she a construct with all her implants? She's not alone with implants.
On Russian women:
If I was a woman in Russia I would be a lesbian, as the men are very ugly. There are a few handsome ones, like Naomi Campbell's boyfriend, but there you see the most beautiful women and the most horrible men.
On Obama's re-election:
Yes he does [deserve to be re-elected], especially because of Mrs. Obama. I'ma big fan of Mrs. Obama - and her face, I think, is magical. He would not be there without her. Mrs. Obama is not a fashion statement, but she has other things to do. My favorite thing about Mrs. Obama was when she was asked if her dress was too tight and she answered, "Why you do not like my big black ass?" [ed. note: Did Mrs. O. ever actually say this?]. I want [Barack] Obama to win because there is nothing better anyway, and especially because of her.
On the Greek economic crisis:
Greece needs to work on a cleaner image. It's a big problem, as [Greeks] have this reputation of being so corrupt. You can not be sure the money will go where it's supposed to go. They need to build trust, and that takes time too. Nobody wants Greece to disappear, but they have really disgusting habits - Italy as well.
On never voting:
I never voted in my life. I will never vote. I know too much about politics from what's going on backstage. To vote you have to believe all that garbage that they promise you, and they can not keep those promises. If someone gave me an Obama pin, I would just put it on.
On MIA giving the finger at the Super Bowl:
Nowadays people give the middle finger quite quickly - it's not the best behavior. Everybody does that, what's new about that? It's just become a bad habit.
Non-sensical thought on magazines:
People in the magazines are 50% women and 50% pregnant bimbo.

Isn't he fan-freaken-tastic?!

Happy Monday!!

Cat's Outta The Bag

Image via Style by Kling

I suppose everyone already knows, but in case you've been under a rock for the last 48 hours, guess who the next designer to collaborate with H&M is? None other than Donatella, darling! The fall collection of womenswear, men's clothes and home items is set to hit stores on November 17th, and I couldn't be more excited. Like... I may just camp out, excited. Ok, maybe not. But I definitely know what's going on my Christmas wishlist this year!!

The Fashion Rules! Party

A couple of nights ago I had the pleasure to attend The Fashion Rules! Party, sponsored by Neiman Marcus and San Diego Magazine. The evening featured not one, but two fashion shows, highlighting this spring's biggest trends (I honestly needed a refresher since all I've been doing for the past month is gawking  over fall 2011 collections). It was a really lovely night, full of champagne, beauty and fashion. Here are a few snaps I took to capture the evening..

The first show focused on the bright pops of color. Definitely saw a lot of corals and loved all of them! A few champagne cocktails later I took in the second show, which was definitely more my style. Lot's of nudes and stripes. Seriously loved ALL of the looks in this collection!

How fierce are the two looks above? I NEED the dress on the left.. heck throw in the shoes too! Won't be able to live without them.

I'm wearing: Fendi jean blazer, J Brand black skinnies, Jessica Simpson Waleo pumps and Chanel bag.

What do you guys think? Which trends are you excited about this spring?

P.S. I can't get the new J-lo song out of my head! Heading off to the Brazilian Carnival downtown tonight! Who's coming? It's Caipirinha time!
