Fishy Business

You've probably read about the benefits of fish oil, oh, everywhere.

In the grocery store,
at the dentist's office,
in your bathroom magazine? Don't lie.

I know. I thought it was a tad bit overrated myself. I mean, I eat fish all the time.
Clearly I get enough fishiness without taking additional supplements;
and trust me, my skin is already oily enough - no extra oil necessary.

So I thought...

I was in the drugstore the other day, lolligagging in the vitamin isle while my prescriptions were being filled, and what do I see? Fish oil. On sale. Staring directly at me.

I pick up the bottle and start reading, (what else was I going to do? I already went through ALL the Revlon lipstick colors).
So I'm reading, reading reading, and suddenly, one little word pops out at me...

...ability to aid in treatment of heart diseasses, high cholesterol, depression, anxiety, low immunity, cancer, diabetes, inflammation, arthritis, weight loss, ACNE, fertility, skin care...

Wha chu say? Helps with acne? Count me in!

Ladies and gents, I have been struggling with my face issues for a longer period of time than I care to admit.
Now don't get me wrong, I know that my case is by no means severe... but still! Those little bumps are so flippin irritating!

And I feel like I've tried it all... proactiv, benzol peroxide, retin-a..
fail, fail, fail.

Long story short - into the grocery basket went the fish oil.

This was a month ago.

Today I'm a happy girl. My skin has visibly improved and I don't want to sound like an infomercial buuuuut..
I didn't change much else in my daily regimen except for the fact that I started taking these little babies.

Of course I am by no means a doctor, and you don't have to take my word for anything.
I simply just wanted to share a little success story with you all, about how these little fishy pills helped me out.

That's all.
Take it as you will.

Happy hump day. By the way.

Weekend Diary

Soooo this weekend I:

-watched the sunset with my luvah

-partied like a rock star during my friends' engagement party

-sang karaoke for the very first time!

-indulged in way too many glasses of champagne during brunch at Ave 5

-watched the Chargers beat the Chiefs from some pretty amazing seats, scored last minute via Craigslist

-tried a new twist on sushi at Station Sushi.. bell pepper salad on top of seared ahi? yes please, and thank you!

P.S. getting a butt implant was NOT one of the activities performed over the weekend, but DAMN that fourth picture is deceptive!! Channeling Kimmy K all night long with that blue skirt on muahahahah.

First Hints of Fall

According to the calendar, today is the first day of fall. I couldn't be more ecstatic to see the first hints of the season peeking in through every crevice. I love this time of the year!

The leaves are slowly starting to turn colors, and what do you know, San Diego is graced with a few drops of rain on the very first day of the new season.

Fall essentials are creeping their way into my closet... my new Missoni for Target picks are going to be perfect in the next couple of months!

With autumn comes a new school year.. I guess one degree wasn't enough for me. That's right kids, I'm officially back in school. You can now find me in the UCSD library on most nights of the week.

In other news, I'm very excited about this weekend.
Tonight I get to kick off my role as a maid of honor during my dear friend's engagement party, and on Sunday we're going to the Chargers game! Yahoo! GO BOLTS!

Take Me to Pleasure Town

"I love scotch. Scotchy, scotch, scotch. Here it goes down, down into my belly..." - Ron Burgundy

Here's a little fun fact about me - I'm Russian. Do you know what Russians drink?
Vodka.

It's not a stereotype. We won't even get offended if you automatically assume that this iced clear liquid flows through our veins. It's pretty much a fact. When I go out, I drink vodka.

This means that I have no idea how to tell the difference between any other types of alcohol.
All those silly flavors of whisky? Forgetaboutit. I have no clue about what's good or bad.

Last night, an opportunity arose to attend a whisky tasting party. Oh, and it was free.
I thought to myself, "why don't I go and get educated.. you know.. think outside the box?".

So off I went to The Macallan tasting, held at the brand spankin' new Port Pavilion, right there on San Diego bay.
I went. I drank. I conquered.

I'm still not a huge fan of the taste, but hey, at least I now know that in order for it to be called a Scotch whisky, a whisky must be distilled and matured in Scotland. Did you know that?

And do you know what the difference between Single Malt Scotch and Blended Scotch is? No?
Would you like me to tell you?

Ok fine. Single Malt Scotch whisky is made from 100% malted barley and distilled at a single distillery, while the Blended Scotch Whisky is made by blending together a number of single malts and grain whiskies.

Pretty nifty, eh? Now you can't tell me that I lost brain cells from drinking. On the contrary, I actually gained knowledge last night!

Now, who's ready for that weekend?
Come oooooon Friday!

Boys

Via

I keep trying to convince my husband that this is really how some boys men dress all the time, (and I find it to be quite sexy). He's not sold. Suggestions?

P.S. Can we talk about Olivia's clutch?! Swoooooooon!
